Serge Ayer is a full time professor in the “ Computer Science Communication Systems” faculty of the the “ Haute école d’ingénierie et d’architecture” of Fribourg.
Serge Ayer received the M.Sc. degree in Computer Science from ETHZ in 1991 and the Ph.D. in Communications Systems from EPFL in 1995. In 1998, he co-founded Dartfish, a spin-off from EPFL and a Swiss company delivering video-based solutions to the sports and education markets worldwide. He was member of management and CTO of the company for about 20 years. In 2010, he also co-founded Vidinoti, another startup from EPFL developing location-based augmented reality solutions. He was the CEO of the company until 2014 and its chairman since 2015. He is now Professor at the University of Applied Sciences of Western Switzerland in Fribourg.
During the past 20 years, he was active in developing and managing projects in the areas of computer vision, cloud-based and Internet of Things based solutions. He is the author of more than 15 patents for EPFL, Dartfish and Vidinoti. His current research projects are focusing on Internet of Things and localization systems.
